Windjammer Days 2009 -- American Eagle #6855

Boothbay Harbor, Maine

American Eagle was launched in 1930, and was the last fishing schooner built in Gloucester, MA. During 1984-86 she was completely rebuilt in Rockland, ME, and in 1991, she was designated a National Historic Landmark. "Today the American Eagle looks and feels like a new boat. Her fair lines, solid timber and tarred rigging are as they were three generations ago when she first went to work in the waters off New England." ~www.schooneramericaneagle.com

Wednesday afternoon, June 24th, 2009, there was a parade of sails celebrating Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor. Despite the light rain, plenty of people came to watch them all sail in.

This image is in response to the Thursday Totally Informal Transglobal Challenge. The theme for June 25, 2009 is "Something Old, Something New". For others participating in the challenge, click here: http://form.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=41559
