I cleaned my 10D sensor using air flow from a foot pump originally supplied for inflating a large exercise ball. It's not perfect but it is much, much better. The ear syringe I tried first didn't help much.
The large soft shadows are out-of focus objects on the computer screen I shot to make the images.
