SMOKY JUNGLE FROG (Leptodactylus pentadactylus) IMG_0024

Lapa Rios - Costa Rica

Smoky Jungle Frogs are voracious predators which will capture and swallow frogs, lizards, small birds, small mammals, and large invertebrates. If attacked by a predator, a Smoky Jungle Frog will emit a high-pitched scream, and will fully inflate its body and stiffly extend its legs to appear larger and make it difficult to swallow. As further protection against predation, its skin possesses noxious secretions.
