WOOD STORK (Mycteria americana)

Myakka River State Park - Sarasota, FL

This species is much reduced in numbers, and is now on federal and state ENDANGERED lists. Wood Storks require concentrations of fish in shallow water, where they "grope-feed" with their bill partly open, until prey contact is made.
