FEMALE GREEN-CROWNED BRILLIANT HUMMIMGBIRD (Heliodoxa jacula) P1000681

Costa Rica - Central America

The green-crowned brilliant hummingbird is a large, robust species that is a resident breeder in the highlands from Costa Rica to western Ecuador. It typically occurs between 2,100 and 6,000 feet above sea level, mainly on Caribbean slopes. Unlike many hummingbirds, the green-crowned brilliant almost always perches to feed.
