Day 4, March 13th (Wednesday)

Went to Aunt Patsy's, a note stated my father needed to speak only with me for a bit. I thought it was serious, what it was was that when I had tried to talk to him the prior day about not worrying about the history of 30-odd years ago that all was fine, he didn't understand me due to the kids & other distractions. So I alone went inside (wife & the kids were still on the grounds & popped in later) & I got to really lay the history of 30-odd years ago to rest, letting him and Patsy-Roger (also there) know that I know that no one's perfect, me especially (our 1st son) and yet I got a 2nd chance and so should almost anybody, & I can understand how my mother contributed to the environment at times herself back then--thus, I'm fine, no bad feelings, he's loved and no anger resides from the past and no guilt should exist from that and it shouldn't be talked about again if possible. It was the long overdue "talk" I had meant to make when I came here-done.

Had lunch-time visits with Bob Aiken & college friend Samantha (from Fayetteville) going on near the same time. Mr Aiken & I ate quickly at Cousin's Pizza (used to be Fast Break) with me staring at the phone a lot to keep track of when to leave for visiting Samantha in Wilson (and hour & change drive for her). Samantha & we met at Bill's Barbeque, it was great, maybe better than Parker's. Saw some old barns down 264 (?) going to Wilson, marked those on the GPS & returned to them on the way back to get photos. Visited father again. Got some good photos of the kids on the grounds of the nursing home after the visit was over (would make good prints for his billboard later). Had another good visit with Patsy-Roger after. Then, at my wife's prodding, we briefly met the "other" Aunt Patsy (my mother's sister) who lived in the apartments across from the old IGA. She was not one of my favorite aunts/uncles growing up, I didn't dislike her, she just wasn't one of my favorites (as I explained to my wife, that's how it goes when you have 8 aunt/uncles and 30-odd cousins, you are going to be closer to some than others). Then we headed to Cubbie's in Greenville (not the downtown location, near Arlington Blvd) to meet Jessica/Janelle, 1st cousins on my mother's side from many years ago (the daughters of Uncle Norman we had eaten at Parker's with the prior night). Their kids & our kids played together a lot, bringing to mind the thought "wow, if only we lived close-by, they'd be enjoying each other as cousins & growing up together as we all did back in the day."
