Day 5. 07-21-2022 (Thu)

Nothing much to report, after having spent the night at a cheap hotel found "on the fly" outside of Benton ARK, we went an hour away to Hardee's in Prescott ARK for breakfast. We then went home, but one precious moment occurred about an hour from home when Helen started throwing paper airplanes at me and laughing. I took a photo upon returning home for remembering the event.

Looking back as I type this on this day, I feel sad. The trip, while it had its moments, left me feeling disappointed. Perhaps I'm thinking too much of how it's going to ultimately end at some point, as Helen is approaching the age I was when White Lake stopped (1984, I was 15, and she was 15 this year). As long as they still enjoy it, why should we stop? Besides, the new cabin was such an improvement. Still, I did feel let-down, perhaps because of its impending end, perhaps because of the heat and how spots such as Ponca and Falling Waterfalls disappointed, perhaps because rutty roads at such spots such as Crow Hole make it challenging for me to see them through when I want to see them through. (Maybe I'm supposed to stop cheapening out and rent an SUV so as to handle the bumpy gravel roads?) Already I'm thinking of how MAYBE we can shoe-horn in a second Jasper trip this year, rather than having to wait until next year.
