European aircraft manufacturer Airbus brought its new A380 to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for a demonstration tour.
The largest commercial plane in the world, with a capacity of 550 passengers.
The A380 visited the MSP airport on Nov. 27,2007 for a demonstration flight for a group of media members and NWA dignitaries.
The NWA has 162 other Airbus jets, including the largest A330 fleet in the world.
Airbus executives are looking for a partner to become the first U.S.-based airline to use the gargantuan, double-decker A380.
NWA is one of Airbus' biggest North American customers, and Airbus would like to sign up the Eagan-based carrier for its two-level, seven-story-tall model at $319 million per copy.
Singapore Airlines took delivery of the first A380 and that 16 foreign customers -- including Qantas Airways, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Air France -- have placed orders for a total of 193 airplanes.
The four-engine aircraft can seat more than 500 passengers. showed a configuration of 12 first-class seats and 307 economy seats on the main deck and 64 business class and 136 economy class seats on the upper deck.
This same aircraft landed in Los Angeles today and will be here until Friday when it will leave for down under. Quite a site but I had to watch it on line since I'm at work.
