After visiting Criţ, a partially paved back road was taken to Viscri. Like Criţ, the town was once most inhabited by Saxon Germans, The name Viscri is a corruption of Weißkirch, the local German dialect for white church. Today the about 20 German Saxons remain. Most of the population are Roma (gypsies). |
