The Paul Street Boys

This sculpture group was created by Péter Szanyi and installed on November 11, 2007. It presents a scene from A Pál utcai fiúk (The Paul Street Boys), the novel by the Hungarian writer Ferenc Molnár (1878 - 1952), first published in 1906. The most popular Hungarian novel has become popular world wide and is required reading in the fifth grade in Hungary. A silent film by Hungarian director Béla Balogh was released in 1919. The novel was adapted into four other films: another Hungarian production by Zoltán Fábri in 1969, the 1934 American film No Greater Glory, and two Italian productions (1935 and 2003).

This sculptural group can be found in front of Práter Általános Iskola (Prater Elementary School) at Práter utca 15, just beyond Kisfaludy utca, one block east of József körút. It's a two block walk from the Corvin-negyed Metro Station. I visited the Paul Street Boys after seeing the nearby Applied Art Museum.
