This sculpture group was created by Péter Szanyi and installed on November 11, 2007. It presents a scene from A Pál utcai fiúk (The Paul Street Boys), the novel by the Hungarian writer Ferenc Molnár (1878 - 1952), first published in 1906. The most popular Hungarian novel has become popular world wide and is required reading in the fifth grade in Hungary. A silent film by Hungarian director Béla Balogh was released in 1919. The novel was adapted into four other films: another Hungarian production by Zoltán Fábri in 1969, the 1934 American film No Greater Glory, and two Italian productions (1935 and 2003). |
