Yesterday's walk

K&P Trail, nr. Lavant Station

Our walk took us past several large wetlands with beaver, otter, grebes, blackbirds, etc. We also encountered hordes of deer flies and blackflies. Mosquitoes were present but they pale in comparison with blackflies!! I can deal with mosquitoes but the blackflies are another story. Over the course of 3 1/2 hours they had nonstop feast on us.

Does covering up not work? Does insect repellent not work? Regardless, the seemingly natural landscape of wetland and forest is terrific.

I’m glad you stuck it out to get this beautiful shot, but yikes, those flies sound terrible. V.

I feel for you. We have blackflies here too, but not as bad as up there! Looks like a lovely place to walk despite the bugs. I've had good luck using Avon Skin-So-Soft or Kids Herbal Armor to keep them away.

yes the blackfly blues can cast a sour note over an excursion...here's your reward though, a location to savour..

A beautiful photo and not a biting fly in sight - they were all on you. I always think of the poor people before there was DEET.

Well worth the effort, but I sympathize with you
