Big Bend National Park

Texas

Big Bend is a fantastic place, a dry high desert type landscape, home to a number of bird species, including the Colima Warbler, primarily found in Mexico, but whose range just crosses the border into Big Bend. The narrow trail on the left is what we followed into Colima Warbler habitat, starting early, because the heat is fierce as the day wears on.

Digitized from an old slide.

I like the abandoned windmill on the left next to the path with the hills in the background. The varied vegetation in your photo must be home to all kinds of critter: big and small. Did you get to see a Colima Warbler? There sure doesn't seem to be much shade to be found while hiking in the sun.

A beautiful image, I love the varied vegetation, the remnants of the windmill and the rugged hill beyond.

Did you find the warbler? It is fascinating semi-arid shrubland habitat.

arid, rugged terrain, brightened by blossoms..you did get around back in the day..
