Monarch butterfly caterpillars (Danaus plexippus)

Larose Forest

These four were all feeding close together on a common milkweed plant along the edge of a forest road. They had already finished a flower head, and were working on the leaves.

What a great catch of so many caterpillars. Good find Christine.

A fantastic image, I never seen more than two on a plant. The one sure looks plump!

I thought I recognised these from the thumbnail. With four of them, there might not be much plant left afterwards. I hope there's enough foliage to go around. They strip plants bare at my place - and I don't think I've ever seen four on one plant.
