The firefly...

Larose Forest

For the November 2022 challenge: Song, Poem, Haiku, Quotation...

The haiku is by Chine-Jo, who died probably in 1688.

This is a firefly in the Genus Photinus. There are many species of fireflies, and not every one is bioluminescent. Although called fireflies, they are actually beetles.

What a really lovely image from the sharp focus on the main subject to the lighting and composition to the detail of dew drops on the buds. How fascinating that the haiku was written almost 350 years ago.

I don't think I've ever seen one not lighting up the dark. Super photo to show what it looks like.

Great shot with beautiful light and colors. I remember them flying on evenings in the garden bevor the house where we lived in Nashville,TN.
