Great tiger moth (Arctia caja), #8166

Larose Forest

A find from mothing last night. It is a bit worn as can be seen, but still a beautiful big moth (about 55 or 60mm in size) whose pattern can vary considerably.

A gay colour comnbination indeed, quite a contrast in style between forewing and hindwing. Might it hide the orange under its forewings as camouflage?
