The Cuckoo...

Larose Forest

A short work by a Japanese poet, Ki Tsurayuki. I think this may have been copied from a collection of traditionsl Japanese poetry, but I really don't know, it has been in a notebook of mine for 40+ years.

This is a Black-billed cuckoo.

I'll swap 1 cockatoo for 6 cuckoo, I'm sure it would be a gentler wake up call :)

With sixteen words this poem tells a complete story - how wonderful.

a sympathetic figure amid the shadows....wakening to its sound would be a gentle way to start the day..
