Hmm... looks like that mushroom has been drinking a lot of pilz(ner) from its stein. It's getting a bit of a beer belly.

Nice shot! These days I would have to use a tilting lcd to catch an image so low down. If I got on my knees I'd have a hard job getting up! Mushrooms are at their best when shot at ground level.

Thank you Walter for the "Steinpilz". When we spent a year in Germany (Ingolstadt) some German friends took us on our first ever mushroom hunt and I remember some of what we found were Steinpilze. My favorites, however, were the Pfifferlinge (chanterelles).

What a beauty. Great detail and colors. My grandfather and I used to pick these in Germany. They are called Steinpilz there. Delicious in soups or sauteed. "V"
