Malaysian house

Malaysia

I was very taken with this style of house in Malaysia, the long porch, the colours, the shape, the abundance of vegetation around them, all aesthetically appealing. I can't remember where this particular one was photographed, but I have a vague memory of pulling over on the side of a road and taking this shot because I found this house especially charming.

Digitized from a slide using a Nikon Coolpix; original camera was a Pentax.

Steep roof for better ventilation, and fast removal of tropical rains built up to avoid flooding during monsoon season and to bring cool air in...they were built out of teak wood and then the forests became endangered from over clearing. This is a lovely place and a great photo. V

Beautiful elegant and practical Asian architecture. The steep roof must be for a good reason!

Such a neat style...perfect with all the open spaces on the porch for the hot weather. I hope you sampled a lot of Malaysian
food, one of my favorite cuisines along with Thai and Vietnamese. V
