Laurel sphinx moth caterpillar (Sphinx kalmiae), #7809

Larose Forest

This is not the final instar; it will grow larger and the stripes become more colourful and pronounced. Although I've seen several of these caterpillars in the forest, I have yet to see the adult (moth). If anyone is guessing, the head is on the right, tucked under.
