Sawfly (Tenthredo sp.)

Larose Forest

An adult sawfly in the family Tenthredinidae. Sawflies are in the Order Hymenoptera, which also includes bees, wasps and ants. Adult sawflies as here, strongly resemble wasps but they lack the wasp waist. Their larvae, however, are frequently mistaken for moth caterpillars.
