Black-rimmed prominent moth (Pheosia rimosa), #7922

Larose Forest

The caterpillars of this moth feed on willows and poplars, of which there is an abundance in Larose Forest. The caterpillar is often called "False Sphinx" because it resembles a sphinx moth caterpillar. To see an image of the caterpillar: https://pbase.com/laroseforest/image/157428381
