This tanager was amazingly cooperative. It flew into a tree some distance from the trail but then came progressively closer until it was at eye level and close enough that I could take some photos (although this is still a crop). Just stood and absorbed the beauty of this bird which probably just arrived in the area and was perhaps still heading further north. Imagine, these birds, and so many others, fly from the neotropics, Mexico, Central and South America, all the way to these north woods!
