American bittern

Larose Forest

I noticed some movement at the back of a pond on one of the forest tracks, and eventually a bittern popped its head up. I spent about 10-15 minutes watching it until it finally walked out almost into the open. This was the best I could do from a great distance. Just after taking this photo, he flew off.
