This tiny beetle (about 3mm) was on a trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) twig. Bug Guide notes: "larvae feed on the dead or dying Salix leaves that accumulate on the ground below the plants." These beetles are usually found on willows, but this one was on poplar, which is occasionally used.
