Quarry

Burnt Lands Provincial Park

This is the quarry from which the fossils spring forth. This photo was taken in 2011; since then the quarry has expanded considerably, coming right to the boundaries of the provincial park. It is vast and dwarfs the huge machines working there. Not an appealing place.

It is not beautiful to see but it can produce a beautiful biotope with time if it is well managed, but that is always the question. Here old developed quarry becomes nature monuments, creating a completely new area for all kinds of plants, insects, etc.., you made a nice image of it BV

It is a stark scene - thank goodness for the park being there to stop the complete spread.

seems a rich repository of past life though...still a pity to see the earth ripped open..
