Wow, it grows here, I believe. Locally it's known as witch hobble. It is said to have come here from Canada along with the Spruce-Fir forest in advance of the continental ice sheets during the last Pleistocene. It, like the forest, is found only above 5,000 feet or so where it remains cool and moist enough for it to survive. Vote..
