Zimmerman pine moth (Dioryctria zimmermani), #5852

Reveler Conservation Area

The larvae, according to Bug Guide, feed on pines, especially scotch pines and austrian pines. There are many scotch pines at Reveler CA, considered an invasive species, so perhaps this moth will help control them.
