Wolf spider, female (Geolycosa)

Deep River

The spiders in this Genus make a really intriguing burrow, sometimes decorated at the top with vegetation, or lichen, sometimes just a tall sandy turret. They live in sandy soils and the 18 species known in NA make similar structures, it seems.

Looks a reasonable sized spider, and, as Laine says, very similar to our Huntsman to look at. v
