False morel (Gyromitra)

Shaw Woods

There were numerous false morel fungi in one location at Shaw Woods. Such odd looking things (sometimes they are called brain fungi... because of their resemblance, some say, to a brain). DO NOT EAT! They are toxic.

It does look like a brain but not very appetizing.

Definitely brainy looking, and well captured. I too wouldn't be tempted to eat it in any case ;-). V.
