Blister beetle (Tricrania sanguinipennis)

Reveler Conservation Area

These pretty red blister beetles are a parasitoid of colonial bees such as the Colletes bee. They lay their eggs in bee's nests. The top photo shows a female heavy with eggs, and the bottom shot is of a mating pair. Nearby was a small colony of Colletes bees.
