This beautiful plant is native to eastern North America, though not to the Ottawa district. However, it grows well in the Butterfly Meadow at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, and does well in gardens around the Ottawa region. Cultivars are available, but they are not the true native species. Bumble bees pollinate this plant.
