Carolina Grasshopper with entomophthora fungus

Near the Ottawa River

There were a number of grasshoppers like this around the site I was walking through. They were all dead, and clinging to vegetation. The giveaway to the fungal attack was the white cast to their bodies. I've mainly seen it on flies. My understanding is that the fungus that attacks grasshoppers is Entomophthora grylli, a different strain of the one that attacks flies.
