Conroy Pit

This is probably a slime mould of some sort. There were several of them on the tree, but this one was oozing downwards, or so it seemed. It might be false puffball (Reticularia lycoperdon), a species to which I was alerted by Carl Cabone http://www.pbase.com/csquared63).
