Labrador tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum)

Morewood Bog

A common bog plant which is in flower at present. The underside of the leaves are rusty coloured. A tea made from the leaves is quite astringent.

astringent, so it won't replace Typhoo then...pretty petals, and the capsule-like bulges on the stems are intriguing..

That's a Rhododendron! Amazing variation on the genus theme.

Excellent color and light in this pleasing composition. Interesting about the tea, too. V.
