Alder sawfly (Eriocampa ovata), female

I don't often see adult sawflies, or if I do, I probably think they are a wasp. But this one is distinctive. It is the adult of the often seen alder sawfly larva http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/152087040). Apparently, this species is parthenogenetic, which is interesting.

Nice find with the adult sawfly. Isn't nature interesting with parthenogenetic creatures like these wasps.
