Hairstreak butterfly larva

Reveler Conservation Area

Found on Bitternut Hickory. Although the Hickory Hairstreak occurs in this area, it is not always easy to tell the difference between that species and the Banded Hairstreak, especially, as a caterpillar. Most likely it is Banded Hairstreak as they are so common. To see what the Banded Hairstreak looks like: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/160753226
