Two-striped grasshopper (Melanoplus bivittatus) laying eggs

Mer Bleue area

A common sight in autumn is that of grasshoppers with their abdomen buried in the ground, laying eggs. It is amazing that these soft-bodied creatures can dig into this hard-packed, gravelled trail.

Excellent, Christine. Very sharp and crisp. Beautiful colors and the catch light is a big plus. Vote.

'Tis amazing also that you catch them in the act. They must be vulnerable to predators while doing this.
