Brown lacewing larva (Hemerobius)

Montreal Botanical Gardens

The predatory larva of a brown lacewing insect. These creatures prey on aphids and I have seen them eating sawfly larvae too. They are considered beneficial in gardens because of that and they do not eat plants!

I'll bet the aphids don't consider them beneficial. :) Nice close up work, Christina. Vote.

Excellent detail in this capture, and nice to hear it's a beneficial insect! V.
