Canadian tiger swallowtail butterfly larva (Papilio canadensis)

Westport area

Another view of the caterpillar in the next shot. This time showing the small brown head underneath the false eyes (left side of the insect). Found on an ash tree. There was a second, larger, caterpillar of this species on the ash, as well as a Great Ash Sphinx moth caterpillar.

A wonderful capture. To me, it looks like a comical cartoon puppet.....it's amazing.

One of natures incredible designs. Looks almost a comic book character. V

Amazing with the false eyes. It looks like it's making a face. I like how the color matches the leaf. "V"
