Cynipid wasp galls (Phylloteras poculum) on bur oak

Reveler Conservation Area

These were found on the underside of a bur oak leaf. They are made by tiny wasps in the Cynipidae family, the cause of many types of galls, particularly on oaks.

Those are so neat, Christine. Looks like tiny little bowls on the leaf.
