Early violet (Viola adunca)

Constance Bay

This tiny violet is very regionally rare in the Ottawa area, known from only three locations, the Torbolton Forest in Constance Bay being the best known site. They are very, very small and sometimes difficult to find, but worth looking for. They are sometimes called Sand Violet because they grow on sandy soils.

What a beautiful little violet and capture of it. The raindrops in particular are a great bonus. V.
