Spring wildflowers were sparse as it was still early with snow and ice still on the ground in many places. However, where winter had receded and the earth had warmed up we could see thousands of leaves of trout lilies, spring beauties, trilliums, and in one place a population of this pretty native plant with tiny flower buds just emerging. It is usually an indication of rich woods.
