The previous trail led through an extensive bog with many sphagnum hummocks full of pitcher plants. These are intriguing plants, insectivorous! They entice insects into their elongated 'cups' and the small spines seen here, prevent the poor creatures from climbing out. Their dissolved bodies provide nutrients for the plants.
