During the spring through autumn, this old dirt road is flooded knee deep. It is possible to wade through the 1+km to higher ground but far easier to walk along it is when frozen solid. The old road once led to a farm on the high ground, but all that remains now are the foundations. The road, really, a track more than a road, leads through varied habitats from cedar thickets, to ironwood dominated woodlots, to open ground, and here on the lower portion, a cattail marsh fringed along the road with alder, cedar and willow. In winter snowmobiles use it and in summer, ATVs. Unfortunately, not many people use non-motorized ways of accessing this site, e.g. walking, skiing, snowshoeing.
