Mourning Cloak butterfly eggs (Nymphalis antiopa)

These eggs have hatched and the larvae are feeding on the leaves of the elm tree (Ulmus pumila)on which these eggs were laid. Some butterflies, such as the Monarchs, lay single eggs, one here, one there, others like this species, lay a huge cluster all together.

Cool find and capture. I've never seen BF eggs laid like this -- they must spend a lot of time in one place to lay this many.
