Dogbane beetle (Chrysochus auratus)

A brilliantly coloured little beetle that is typically found mostly on spreading dogbane, a native plant of trails open areas. Sometimes they are found on milkweed, and that is where I saw this one.

Wow, just beautiful capture! The beetle's body reminds me of eosin glaze on Zsolnay, a type of famous pottery made in Hungary. V.
