Bottlebrush grass (Elymus hystrix)

This is a beautifully striking native grass. It grows about 4 feet tall, and while around Ottawa it is sparsely found, we saw huge swathes of it further south near Westport Ontario. I don't know why it is not grown from seed by nurseries and sold as a native ornamental grass, for it is just as striking as any of the exotics they sell.
