Fungi in the water

Hiking along the edge of a stream near the bog, I saw this log covered with orange fungi, half in the water. While I don't know which species they are, they appear to be in the polypore group.

Fascinating! I didn't know one could find fungi surviving in the water, but a beautiful, colorful capture of them in any case. V.

This is a very interesting find. We have a fungi that grows on submerged wood but it is only seen in February-march.

Amazing how they still grow even in water. I know they like dampness but didn't know they could grow submerged. Outstanding composition and color. Love how they pierce the water with the little wavelets around them. V.

These remind me of the potato "eyes" that I had to pluck off my red skinned potatoes last night!

Looks immersed in a molten metal puddle... Pretty

This is an interesting one. Our temperatures have dropped and so the fungi have mostly disappeared.

They fit right in with their fall colors. Lovely catch.
The water tension rings are a fabulous addition.
Is that ice I see?
