Found this female mantis sitting on the side of an old overgrown and unused roadway. She was twice the size of the male I saw a few minutes earlier!

Great close-up! I found a male on a pedestrian crossing sign in a parking lot a few days ago and picked him up and walked him to some nearby trees. Fascinating insects.
