Prickly pear cactus flower (Opuntia)

Photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, where this species has grown well for some years. It is native to Ontario, but doesn't naturally occur in the Ottawa district, and is known from only small populations in the province, and is considered a species of concern because of this.

It produces a gorgeous bloom. Super color and detail. I don't like getting those tiny needles in my skin. :) Hope it can survive. V.
